Tools for Tribal Partners and Providers

Resources to support the day-to-day operations and long-term planning of tribal staff, administrators, and service partners working to meet the needs of native elders.

What MIAAA provides/overview of resources

Area Agencies on Aging play a critical role in the administration of federal Older Americans Act dollars to support home and community-based services for elder programming.

Through our work, we:

  • Partner with Tribal governments to design and deliver culturally relevant elder care.
  • Advocate for Indigenous perspectives in statewide aging policies and programs.
  • Support community-based service delivery and infrastructure.

These links connect you to trusted programs and agencies that serve older adults across Minnesota. MIAAA works closely with these organizations and often refers Elders, caregivers, and Tribal program staff to them for help with aging services, long-term care, and related supports.

MN Board on Aging

The Minnesota Board on Aging (MBA) works to ensure that older Minnesotans and their families are effectively served by state and local policies and programs, so they can age well and live well. The MBA does this through its three major roles: administrator, advisor and advocate.

Senior Linkage Line

The Senior LinkAge Line is a free, statewide service of the Minnesota Board on Aging in partnership with Minnesota’s Area Agencies on Aging.

Office of Ombudsman for Long-Term Care

The Office of Ombudsman for Long-Term Care (OOLTC) advocates for Minnesota adults needing or receiving long-term care. The office promotes person-directed living that respects people’s values and preferences, and works to preserve individual rights.

Administration for Community Living

The Administration for Community Living is a division of U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and was created around the fundamental principle that older adults and people of all ages with disabilities should be able to live where they choose, with the people they choose, and with the ability to participate fully in their communities.

ACL funds services and supports provided by networks of community-based organizations and invests in research, education and innovation to help make this principle a reality for millions of Americans.

MN Association of Area Agencies on Aging

Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) are regional organizations that provide the services, supports and information for just about everything that older adults and their families could need. Minnesota has seven AAAs across the state that are the local connections to older Minnesotans and the community support they need as they age.

MIAAA connects Tribal Elders and caregivers to services that support aging at home while honoring cultural traditions. We also advocate for Tribal priorities at the state and federal level.
